These Plates for the Kids Turned Out Slightly Wrong

On Instagram and Pinterest, you see people making beautiful sandwiches for their children and creating entire works of art with healthy vegetables on the plate. A dino made of peas, a sandwich featuring Frida Kahlo and a bear sandwich: nothing is too much for these artistic parents. But what happens when ordinary people try their hand at an idea like that?

Can you only get your kids to eat with great difficulty? The temptation to jazz up the plate a little is strong. A smiling face on a pancake, a cheerful little man made of mashed potatoes or even a Cookie Monster with mushroom eyes—it sounds so fun. But reality is stubborn… and you can see that in these creations.
- Paasontbijtje!
- Eet dan in elk geval één champignonnetje op.
- En waar is Barbie?
The Rate My Plate website features the most bizarre culinary creations. Collapsed cakes, terrible pasta dishes and breakfast plates straight out of a horror movie—it’s all there. Got a kitchen blooper of your own? Add it. Or simply look at the photos on the site, and you’ll soon feel less like a kitchen disaster yourself.
