Mother creates edible works of art — so her son eats everything on his plate

Kindereten-hoofd-Favorflav

Children are the most critical food critics out there, as you may have already read on FavorFlav. Some parents don’t have much patience for that; they’re already rolling their eyes when the crusts have to be cut off a sandwich. Laleh goes a little further to get her son Jacob to eat…

Have you ever seen those Japanese lunch boxes, with Miffy made from rice and a piece of carrot? Or sandwiches that imitate works of art? The plates of food Laleh serves her son Jacob could easily join that list. Not that Jacob is a fussy eater—not at all. But apparently Laleh simply had a little too much time on her hands. Laleh first posted her artistic plates on Instagram in 2015, and within a month, making beautiful plates of food had become her job.

One hundred percent natural

Whether Jacob neatly eats everything on all those plates is unknown. But everything is edible, and Laleh uses only natural food colorings. The cream sauce that’s bright blue? Spirulina—and healthy too. Well, now you have some idea of how high the bar is when there’s complaining again that a grilled cheese sandwich has to be cut diagonally rather than straight, because otherwise the children don’t like it.
