This Is How Playing with Food Becomes Cheerful Art

Artist Helga Stentzel looks at her slice of bread with chocolate spread, a piece of cake or the logs beside the fireplace in a completely different way. Hey, that looks like an avocado choir!

Helga was born in Russia, but she lives and works in London as an illustrator, photographer and video maker. She graduated from the prestigious St. Martins art school and then worked as an art director at an advertising agency. Her inspiration? The city, where even a ride on the Underground can already produce dozens of ideas for new works of art, and her two sons. They look at the world so openly and without preconceptions that it is difficult to match, she says.
Helga takes photos of food, which she edits on the computer. Her husband helps her with the photography, but fortunately also with the administration and brainstorming about new works of art. That art can be found on Instagram and on her website.
