These restaurants are taking part in Vegetarian Restaurant Week

vegetarisch eten

From 11 to 17 March, it’s National Week Without Meat. This initiative calls on people in the Netherlands to eat no meat for a week, becoming more aware of the positive impact of eating less meat. Of course, you can make a vegetarian meal at home, but there’s also a special Vegetarian Restaurant Week. Yes!

Restaurants across the country are taking part with a completely vegetarian menu. We’re sharing a few of our favourites.

ATNOON – Breda

At ATNOON, you can enjoy a vegetarian lunch, an à la carte dinner or a set three-course menu. The restaurant prefers to serve classic dishes and has delicious cocktails to pair with your vegetarian meal.

BACKYARD – Rotterdam

This is a trendy restaurant in the heart of Rotterdam. It feels as though you’ve landed at a cosy garden party. BACKYARD is also a great choice for vegetarians and vegans outside this week. The restaurant is entirely vegetarian, and many dishes are even fully plant-based. They serve an incredibly tasty Indian sharing platter and vegan nuggets.

GYS Voorstraat – Utrecht

Sustainability is central to the dishes and interior at this restaurant. All the dishes here are vegetarian or vegan. Popular dishes such as fish & chips and satay are given a vegetarian twist. Their vegetarian kapsalon is very popular.

Wolf Kitchen & Bar – Alkmaar

At this restaurant, you have a beautiful view of Waagplein. The dishes at Wolf Kitchen & Bar are not only delicious, but also look stunning. They appeal to all the senses with a vegetarian three-course menu.

Shirak – Den Bosch

Armenian cuisine takes centre stage at this family restaurant, combined with vegetarian dishes. Especially for Vegetarian Restaurant Week, the restaurant is serving a three-course menu featuring surprising Armenian dishes. There is a choice of vegetarian and vegan options.

So, that just goes to show once again that you don’t need meat to enjoy a delicious meal out.
