This Food Keeps You Young

Crow’s feet, frown lines and age spots are things nobody looks forward to. Of course, cosmetic procedures can help conceal or tighten some of these signs, but nothing has as much influence on our bodies as what we eat. With the right nutrition, we can keep our bodies young for as long as possible. These foods will help you stay young and vital.

Let’s start with those early wrinkles. They can be held at bay by consuming plenty of antioxidants. Think of eating blueberries, raspberries and strawberries. Antioxidants help produce collagen, making your skin look younger and more vital while slowing down the ageing process.
Healthy hair
Dull, grey hair can also be countered with the right nutrition. Your hair is actually made up of protein. Protein-rich foods can therefore help keep your hair healthy and shiny. Think dairy and legumes, or go for convenience with a protein powder. There are also certain vitamins that contribute to healthy hair, such as vitamins C, H and A, and iron. By adding salmon, eggs and citrus fruits to your diet, you’ll get these vitamins too.
Strong bones
We all become a little more fragile as we get older, but that too can be reduced. First of all, strength training helps. It makes our bones denser and therefore stronger. Nutrition can help as well, especially green leafy vegetables such as spinach and kale, as they are rich in vitamin K.
A strong heart
Naturally, keeping our hearts healthy and strong is also essential. Nuts and seeds are rich in healthy fats and fibre, which help keep your cholesterol levels low. And good news: chocolate also contributes to a healthy heart. Cocoa is packed with antioxidants and flavonoids. These substances can lower blood pressure and stimulate blood circulation. However, the higher the cocoa content in your chocolate, the better it is for your heart.
Mentally vital
Many people become a little muddled or forgetful as they get older—that’s part of life. If you want to keep your brain sharp and young, omega-3 fatty acids can help. These fatty acids are mainly found in oily fish such as salmon or mackerel. But for the vegetarians and vegans among us, fortunately there are also plant-based omega-3 supplements on the market.
So there are plenty of ways to stay young without visiting a plastic surgeon. Of course, all the foods mentioned belong in a varied and balanced diet. They are not miracle products that will guarantee you avoid grey hair. However, these products can contribute to a slower ageing process, helping you grow older more slowly and with greater vitality.
