This Ice Cream Shop Is All About India
Italian gelato? Maybe, but this ice cream shop in New York is entirely dedicated to the flavors of India. Flavors like rose with roasted cinnamon almonds or star anise with peanuts, for example—sounds amazing, right?
In 2015, Pooja Bavishi started her own ice cream brand, Malai Ice Cream. Her ice cream is inspired by the flavors she grew up with in an Indian family. Her ice cream turned out to be a huge success, so at the beginning of March she opened her first permanent ice cream shop in Brooklyn. There, you can taste twelve of the flavors she has developed over the past few years. There is also a brand-new flavor to try every month.

If you needed another reason for a trip to New York: there you go. Unfortunately, you can’t find anything like this in the Netherlands yet, but many Indian restaurants do serve kulfi: traditional Indian soft serve made with cardamom, nuts and/or fruit.
