This is the best way to store Parmesan cheese so it doesn’t go moldy

You know the feeling? You’ve just spent a pretty penny on a block of 48-month-aged Parmesan cheese, put it in the fridge and, after a week and a half, mold starts growing on it? Such a shame. Fortunately, you can prevent Italian cheese like this from going moldy with this tip.

Time and place

Don’t just put cheese anywhere in the fridge; always place it right at the top or bottom. The middle is the coldest, which makes the cheese dry out fastest. How long you can leave your cheese there depends on the type. Hard cheeses usually have the longest shelf life, so you can easily keep that Parmesan for a month or two.

Anti-mold

But to prevent furry blue spots from growing on it, you need to make sure no moisture can reach the cheese. Do this by wrapping it in plastic wrap. Then wrap some kitchen paper around it to absorb the moisture. Place the cheese at the bottom or top of the fridge as mentioned, and it won’t go moldy again!
