This is why you can shop so affordably at Dirk

At a time when we’re keeping a close eye on our spending, those handy tips for saving money while the supermarket keeps getting more expensive come in useful. But do you know what’s really smart? Doing your grocery shopping at Dirk. On average, you’ll pay 11 percent (!!) less there.

The Consumers’ Association investigated where you can leave the supermarket as cheaply as possible with a trolley full of basic groceries (that is: products such as rice, coffee, milk and butter). Supermarket Dirk once again emerged from the test as the cheapest, at 11 percent below average. The most expensive supermarket is Spar, at no less than 26 percent above average.

Cutting costs

But how can the difference be so enormous? Dirk’s director, Marcel Huizing, explains that it’s because the supermarket stopped airing TV commercials in June this year. That saves more than 35 percent of the total marketing budget. With this choice, Dirk has been able to keep everyday groceries affordable.

Cheapest once again

Incidentally, earlier this year the Consumers’ Association had already named Dirk the cheapest supermarket when it comes to A-brands. “Our customers can count on Dirk!”, says Marcel. Double and definitive proof that the supermarket is once again the cheapest.
