This new restaurant has only 1 table

Thought it was difficult to score a reservation at Noma or Osteria Fransescana? This new Amsterdam restaurant has only one table, and reservations are by invitation.

Are you always that one table that makes just a little too much noise and gets angry looks from other guests in the restaurant? Or are you the one with the death stare because you want to enjoy your dinner in peace? Problem solved! In this restaurant, you are the only table, and it feels just like eating at the chef’s home, but in a Michelin-starred restaurant.
Former chef’s table
Michelin-starred chef Chris Naylor of Vermeer Amsterdam is launching a new concept this week: Naylor’s. It is located where the chef’s table used to be, but is now separate from Vermeer. A few Vermeer classics are on the menu, but Naylor is also experimenting with new dishes. ‘I see it as my own laboratory,’ he explains.
‘People are genuinely my guests, as if they were at my home. They get a personal experience, one that is very different from Vermeer. Here, you sit in the middle of the kitchen, and I explain the dishes myself. The restaurant is only open when I am present.’
By invitation
Want to score a table? Good luck. In principle, reservations are only made by personal invitation from Chris Naylor himself. People can also call him personally to request a reservation. From mid-February, the restaurant, which can accommodate a maximum of six guests at the table, will be open three evenings a week. You pay €250 per person, excluding drinks. For that price, you will be picked up and brought home, provided you live in the Netherlands.
