This restaurant has a menu for your dog
Going out to eat with your dog is like going on a date that can’t go wrong. Except when you arrive at a restaurant that isn’t entirely dog-friendly . A place where you can’t even count on a bowl of water; in fact, your four-legged friend isn’t allowed inside at all. Ridiculous. As far as I’m concerned, these kinds of restaurants are passé, and the way Café Camelot in Zutphen does things is completely up to date: they simply have a menu for your dog. How cool is that?
And no, it’s not a lame joke in the form of a doggy bag you can take home for your dog to enjoy your leftovers—although that’s always an option, of course. At Café Camelot, your dog can also simply enjoy a full-fledged dinner. The only missed opportunity is that they don’t serve dog wine yet (because yes, it exists in the form of Pawsecco), but what isn’t may still come.
And what’s on the menu du jour for my date?
For starters, there’s the house aperitif: a lovely bowl of fresh water. You can also choose à la carte from a KnabbelKluif Klein (for Chihuahuas and other small four-legged friends), the KnabbelKluif Middel (for bigger eaters), and my personal favorite: the Surprise Menu! All for very reasonable prices between one and five euros.
I hope many restaurants follow this great example and that our dogs will increasingly be seen as full-fledged guests with appetites. Oh, one important thing to mention: you don’t need to reserve an extra seat. They’re not quite that full-fledged yet, right?
