This truck ensures your gin and tonic is always perfectly garnished

truck

Coca-Cola truck move over! Hendrick’s Gin is coming with a new icon on wheels. And not just any icon, but the largest (and highly likely only) cucumber garnish truck. The launch will take place on World Cucumber Day on (and around) June 14 in Rotterdam and Amsterdam.

The Hendrick’s Grand Garnisher is what it’s called, and unlike the spiralizer in our kitchen drawer, this one reaches speeds of up to 40 km/h. The rotating blades in the truck ensure that around eighteen cucumbers are sliced per hour. Not a particularly impressive number, if you ask me—I’d be more than happy to take on the challenge of improving this cucumber-slicing record. According to Hendrick’s ambassador and ‘cucumber aficionado’ Jennifer de Jong, getting to work with the garnisher isn’t the most efficient way either, ‘but it is the most spectacular way ever’.

Come on over

World Cucumber Day is Hendrick’s tribute to the cucumber, because without this vegetable, Hendrick’s gin wouldn’t be the same. Together with rose petals, it forms the essence of Scottish Hendrick’s Gin.

And what better way to honor the cucumber than with a real cucumber garnish truck? Fans of the drink (who isn’t?) can see this garnisher on June 13 and 14 at Annabel in Rotterdam, and on June 15 and 16 at Hangar in Amsterdam.

Registration is mandatory and can be done via Facebook for Amsterdam and Rotterdam. Bringing your own cucumber from home? Then the first gin and tonic, with (your own) perfect cucumber garnish, is on the house.
