There’s no shortage of original collaborations and menu boxes during coronavirus times. The latest collaboration, in which two chefs join forces, comes from (Michelin-starred) chefs Joris Bijdendijk and Dennis Huwaë.

Under the name ‘Rijksdaalder’ (get the pun!), the chef friends are launching a fine-dining home-cooking menu with three courses from RIJKS® and three courses from Daalder. Just like with their other delivery menus, RIJKS® at Home and Thuis met Daalder, the dishes are finished in your own kitchen. Through video instructions, in which you listen in on the culinary conversations between the two chefs, you learn how to finish the dishes at home.

Don’t be intimidated: this menu is also suitable for less experienced home cooks—the chefs have already done most of the work, after all. Anyone who can turn on an oven, arrange food on a plate and bring water to the boil can cook along with the kitchen teams of Daalder and RIJKS® for this evening.

Menu: what to expect

The menu includes signature dishes such as RIJKS®’s much-lauded red beet mille-feuille and Daalder’s pulpo with fregola. The exclusive six-course menu costs €75 per person and comes with an amuse, bread with butter and friandises to accompany the coffee. Joris: “Over the past few months, we’ve been able to try out and test so many new things. With Rijksdaalder, we’re taking it to an even higher level. Home cooking 2.0.” Anyone opting for a complete restaurant experience at home can choose the wine pairing put together by the sommeliers of both restaurants, with a separate glass of wine for each dish (€69, with six different wines, for two people).

Golden coin

Fun gimmick: the lucky finder who discovers a golden rijksdaalder among the containers and bags can, once the restaurants reopen, join them for three courses at RIJKS® and three courses at Daalder.

Time to order!

The Rijksdaalder menu can be ordered—during the month of December—via ThuismetDaalder.nl or RIJKSrestaurant.nl. There is a choice between the classic menu and a vegetarian menu. Rijksdaalder can be picked up from RIJKS® and Daalder from Wednesday through Sunday, and every day at Edel by Dennis at Postjesweg 1. For €17.50 per package, the menu is delivered throughout the country (except the Wadden Islands). Nationwide orders must be placed one day in advance before 12:00 noon.
