Top tip: our favorite white wine is now on offer at Lidl
I absolutely love the Austrian white wine Grüner Veltliner. I’m not the only one; this wine, affectionately known as ‘Grünvee’, is also a true sommelier’s wine. That’s because it pairs with an incredible number of dishes, and there’s hardly anyone who doesn’t enjoy it. Good news: the Grüner Veltliner from Domäne Grafenegg, which you can buy at Lidl, is now on offer. Run, don’t walk!
Grüner Veltliner always works
Grüner Veltliner is always a good choice. Its lovely, fresh acidity makes it extremely suitable for enjoying on the terrace. And yet it’s also full-bodied and warm enough for the dinner table. Thanks to its fresh, fruity character – which can sometimes come across as almost sweet – and its unique (white) pepper note, it even works beautifully with spicy dishes. Ideal when you’re with a group and order a bottle somewhere. Or when you pour yourself a few glasses at home – I won’t stop you.
On offer at Lidl
Thirst-quenching, green apple, white peach, cool herbs, little peppers, citrus sparkle and a squeeze of grapefruit: that’s how Harold Hamersma described this wine. And ‘remarkably good for the price’. And that refers to the regular price – 6.92 euros for a bottle. Now you pay just 5.19 for this crowd favorite.
