Trekdrop is back! Here’s where you can exclusively buy the new Strekdrop
The classic trekdrop is back, and how! Last Friday, the candy was relaunched under the name Strekdrop by Rotterdam-based Candyfestival.nl, and within a few hours the webshop had completely crashed. A viral TikTok video led to more than a thousand orders in no time. The nostalgic elongated candy, which disappeared from the shelves five years ago, has suddenly become the talk of the town.
“Over the past few years, we received messages from customers every week asking whether trekdrop would ever return,” say Olaf Ouwerkerk and Youri, the founders of Candyfestival.nl. “We redeveloped the iconic candy in collaboration with a Dutch candy factory. The result: Strekdrop, a stretchy liquorice candy that perfectly matches the beloved original in terms of taste, texture and experience.”
Viral on TikTok, sold out in no time
The first video on TikTok, posted by Olaf, had just one goal: to test whether people still remembered trekdrop. “It was in the middle of the summer holidays, everyone was lying on the beach, and I thought interest would be fairly limited,” he says. But things turned out differently. Within a few hours, the video went viral nearly a million times, orders skyrocketed and the website temporarily crashed.

The Netherlands was craving trekdrop
“It was truly overwhelming,” Youri continues. “The Netherlands had massively missed trekdrop. The entire stock sold out in no time. People were literally eager to get their favorite candy back.”
Why trekdrop is so beloved

Candyfestival.nl is working hard to increase production. “We know that, for now, we still can’t make everyone happy,” says Youri. “But we’re doing everything we can to have enough stock every week, so everyone can enjoy Strekdrop again soon.”
