Vega(n) Favorites from the Airfryer

Besides loads of fries and bitterballen, the Philips Airfryer is also perfect for preparing dishes with vegetables and fruit taking center stage. From spring rolls to crumbles and from falafel to spicy cauliflower; we’ve got your back! These are our favorite veggie and vegan recipes.

Spring rolls, sushi and spicy cauliflower
Do you know anyone who doesn’t like spring rolls? Exactly, those people don’t exist. So with these veggie spring rolls with chili sauce, you’re guaranteed to be onto a winner. And what about sushi? Sushi from the Airfryer may seem a little far-fetched, but it really is a great idea. Just take a look at the delicious photos in the original recipe for this sushi with Japanese-inspired kale and avocado. The panko and sesame seeds make the sushi wonderfully crispy. Add some homemade sriracha mayo and you’re done.
Special fusion
The final stop in Asia. This dish can’t be pinned down to a single country, but that doesn’t make it any less delicious. A spicy stir-fry with roasted cauliflower. Delicious with rice or noodles. For this recipe, use an Airfryer pan without holes. This allows you to ‘stir-fry’ the cauliflower and other ingredients at 350 °C in no time. Once the cauliflower is ready, add the onion, garlic and stir-fry sauce. Let everything cook for 5 minutes before adding the next ingredient.
What’s the advantage of the Airfryer compared to a stovetop? In a wok, you only heat the underside of the ingredients, unless you keep tossing them continuously, of course. In the Airfryer, the ingredients are heated evenly from all sides. And without you having to stand over it the whole time. Easy does it.
Pita falafel
Yep, falafel from the Airfryer is absolutely doable too. There are several ways to make it: from frying with little or even lots of oil to baking it golden brown in the oven. Going for the low-fat version? Then use the Airfryer. Make this classic falafel and eat it with plenty of tzatziki or garlic sauce. How do you make it? Set the Airfryer to 200 °C and bake the falafel balls for about 10 minutes. Toss them once halfway through for a beautifully golden-brown result. Make the falafel in several batches for the best results. And does your falafel often fall apart while baking? With these tips, you’ll never have that problem again.
Falafel naturally calls for pita bread too. And yes, you can bake that in the Airfryer too; all the more reason to finish even faster. To convert the oven temperature to an Airfryer temperature, subtract 15 °C: for this recipe, set the Airfryer to 245 °C. Make sure the Airfryer is thoroughly preheated before putting in the pitas, and you’ll have perfectly baked pitas in 2 minutes.

Crumble!
Is it time for dessert? Even then, you can simply leave that Airfryer on the counter. This apricot and blackberry crumble is everything you need to end the dinner on a high note. With the Airfryer, you only need to bake the crumble for 20 minutes, so it’s ready quickly too. Preheat the Airfryer to 200 °C and let the hot air do the rest. Your crumble will be deliciously crispy while the fruit stays nice and firm. Serve with a generous scoop of homemade vanilla ice cream.
