Vision of the Future: Urban Farming in Containers

Urban farmers can now also practice urban farming in the Brooklyn neighborhood of New York, thanks to a remarkable startup.

In Amsterdam, you can grow your own vegetables thanks to your own vegetable garden box, but New York now has urban farmers too.
Square Roots has converted shipping containers into the most compact farms. In Brooklyn, the futuristic, pink-lit farms are simply located in a parking lot.
The containers even have several advantages over regular farmland. One container is equivalent to almost 8,100 square meters of land, and no pesticides are involved because everything grows indoors.
