Urban Farmers in Amsterdam

Who says you need a garden to grow a vegetable garden? Stichting Stadsboeren provides planters in which Amsterdammers who do not have a garden of their own can grow vegetables and fruit.

The mobile vegetable gardens do a lot of good: vacant plots of land are put to use, people come together to garden and learn a great deal about where products come from. Moreover, having home-grown vegetables on your plate gives you an unbeatable feeling.

Projects
Stadsboeren has several locations in Amsterdam. The first project was the Bellamytuin in Oud-West. The Bijlmerbajestuin is their latest project. In this garden, vegetables are grown by residents of the asylum seekers’ centre located in the former prison. The planters in the Bijlmerbajestuin are therefore not for rent. The planters in the Labtuin (also in Oud-West) are available for rent, so you can garden in them this coming spring and summer. For €44, you can enjoy playing farmer right in the middle of the city.
