We need to talk about Lidl’s tiramisu

According to FavorFlav’s Lauretta, tiramisu is at its very best when you make it yourself. That may be true, but for 2.99 euros you can buy 500 grams of tiramisu at Lidl to absolutely stuff your (long) fingers with—it’s that delicious.

Why is this such a hit? The mascarpone is soft and applied exactly how I like it (read: not too thick), but the very best part: this tiramisu contains alcohol. Ladyfingers soaked in alcohol.

Tiramisu without booze is perfectly fine, but with it, it’s just that little bit tastier (and an added bonus: my children keep their grabby little claws away from it). The Silver Spoon, the bible of authentic Italian cuisine, opts for classic brandy, but Vin Santo (Tuscan dessert wine made from dried grapes), Marsala (fortified wine from Sicily) and Amaretto are also often used.

I have no idea what Lidl put in this tiramisu, because I can’t read those tiny letters on the back and, honestly, I couldn’t care less for those 3 euros.

This is simply a tub of pure indulgence—if I were you, I’d get it in the house quickly. Thank me later.
