What is the best wine bar in the Netherlands?
In the past, ordering wine in a bar was more or less tantamount to the guillotine. But now that the quality of wine in the hospitality industry has increased considerably, fortunately that’s a thing of the past (at least in many places). A true wine lover would naturally much rather go to a wine bar, where you can drink various top wines by the glass. But which wine bar does it best?
Round up your wine squad, because it’s time once again for the most fun election of the year: that of the best wine bar. For the sixth year in a row, wine bars across the country are competing for the coveted title of Wine Bar of the Year. And your vote counts!
Just what the doctor ordered
Saying that a wine bar is good for your health may be going a bit far, but in Italy they say with complete conviction: ‘E’ meglio l’osteria che andare in farmacia’. In other words: if you don’t feel well, you’re better off going to an osteria than to a pharmacy. In short, you only perk up after a visit to a wine bar. But where is the standard top-notch and does everything come together?
FavorFlav on the jury
During the annual ‘Wine Bar of the Year’ competition, which has been around since 2014, we’ll find that out for you. ‘We’, yes, because FavorFlav is on the jury for this (most fun!) election of the year.
How it works
Last year, no fewer than 150 wine bars from across the Netherlands took part, together receiving more than 12,000 public votes. As every year, the competition starts with a public voting round in which you can cast your vote for your favorite wine hang-out. From the 25 wine bars with the most votes, FavorFlav, together with the rest of the professional jury, selects 10 wine bars to advance to the next round. To complete the top 15, we as the jury also add 5 wildcards. Gems that simply cannot be left off the list. After the top 15 is announced, the wine bars will be visited (unannounced!) during the final two months of the year.

You can vote for your favorite wine bar from today until 11 December via wine-bars.nl, the handy website where you’ll find more than 150 wine bars throughout the Netherlands.
