Picking your own oysters on the mudflats and eating them right there—things can hardly get more idyllic. It’s not only fun, but also a good solution to overpopulation. We call that a win-win.

Putting restrictions in place
Oyster farmers aren’t too happy about people picking wild oysters, however, as they see it as a form of competition. Large groups of Asians in particular come to Zeeland to take dozens of kilos with them and supply them to the hospitality industry on their way back. In the coming weeks, the provincial executive board will therefore decide whether picking oysters from the Oosterschelde will be restricted. Time to quickly pick some more oysters.

Pick them yourself
