Where the Dutch Top Chefs Want to Eat

You have a bucket list of restaurants where you still want to eat, we at the editorial team have one too, and of course the Dutch top chefs also have a wish list.

Robert Kranenborg – The Next in Chicago, United States
“This is a restaurant that changes its theme every three or four months. Each time, they work with a completely new cuisine, and I think that’s such a wonderful concept—I’d love to experience it sometime. Personally, I’d like to keep up with the new modern wave of chefs.”
Joris Bijdendijk – Mandarin Oriental Landmark Hotel in Hong Kong, China
“I’d really love to eat at Richard Ekkebus at the Mandarin Oriental Landmark Hotel in Hong Kong. He is truly a very special chef, a global star. He cooks very much based on the quality of the product, and I’d love to taste that.”
Guillaume de Beer – El Celler de Can Rocca in Girona, Spain
De Beer, chef of Restaurant Breda in Amsterdam: “I’d really, really love to eat at this restaurant.” We understand why. At the moment, it is the second-best restaurant in the world, where the ‘Roca brothers’ cook up star-studded magic.
Since Kobe Desramaults joined In de Wulf, I go there every year – Nel Schellekens
François Geurds and Freek van Noortwijk – The Fat Duck in Bray, England
Geurds, chef of FG Food Labs and FG Restaurant: “I ate the new menu at The Fat Duck, and it was truly incredible. And I’m not saying that because I worked there. But hey, it’s quite something when you get 24 courses including venison, lamb, mock turtle soup, sole and scallop.”
Nel Schellekens, In de Wulf in Heuvelland, Belgium
“Since Kobe Desramaults joined In de Wulf , I go there every year.” Need we say more? This beautiful restaurant, where you can also stay overnight, is more than worth a visit to our southern neighbours. You’ll have to be quick, though, because they are closing at the end of 2016.
Michiel van der Eerde, The Jane in Antwerp, Belgium
The Jane is in Michiel van der Eerde’s top three (Baut Zuidas and Restaurant C): “Eating at The Jane. That would be the third time, but they keep getting better. I’m so proud of Nick (chef at The Jane). With Sergio, we already knew how good he was, but Nick shows that he too belongs to the top tier.” Making a Saturday evening reservation is quite a challenge. Tip: go for lunch.
FavorFlav, Atelier Crenn in San Francisco, United States
Dominique Crenn is the first female chef in the United States with two Michelin stars. Her cooking style and personality are portrayed beautifully in season two of Netflix’s Chef’s Table, leaving us with only one thought: we.must.eat.here (as is actually the case with all the other restaurants from Chef’s Table).
