With this simple tip, your beetroot will taste less earthy (for everyone who doesn’t like it)

Not a fan of the earthy taste of beetroot? With this super simple tip, for which you need nothing at all, beetroot will taste much less earthy!

Beetroot is definitely in my top 10 favorite vegetables. Because that specific earthy taste is precisely what makes beetroot so delicious—at least for me. Not everyone likes it. If you’re planning to make this divine beetroot gazpacho from Restaurant De Kas this week and want the beetroot to taste less earthy, apply the following tip:
Cook twice
Before we reveal the trick, we should mention that you can only use it with fresh beetroot, not the beetroot you find already cooked and vacuum-packed in the supermarket. Okay, there we go: cook the beetroot for a few minutes (about 10–15) in a pan with plenty of boiling water. Drain the beetroot, refill the pan with water and then continue cooking (or roasting) it until tender. The water you drained off the first time will contain the earthy flavor; if you then continue cooking the beetroot in fresh water, the flavor will be much less intense. Easy, right?
