Wow: rat spotted among the lettuce at Greek restaurant

This is seriously my worst nightmare. No, wait: my worst nightmare is spotting this after I’ve eaten here. And I do know that some places in the Netherlands are struggling with a mouse and rat infestation, and that it’s incredibly annoying, but this… This really goes too far. How could the staff NOT spot this?

One customer spotted it immediately, at least, when he perhaps went to this place to get a tasty gyro sandwich. A black creature like that really stands out among the otherwise light-colored lettuce, as he soon noticed. Honestly: this may be the most fitting video to play this well-known TikTok tune alongside.

Greek restaurant now aware

The restaurant in question is located in The Westfield Mall of the Netherlands, where it has been reprimanded. A spokesperson for this shopping centre in Leidschendam says: ‘As soon as the incident came to our attention, we immediately took action by having this business improve its hygiene and the way food products are sealed.’

That seems like the very least they can do, but it immediately raises the question for me: mice and rats never come alone, do they? If you have one, you can bet your bottom dollar that you have half a village in there. Yikes…

Enjoy your meal!

Below is the video in question, but you’ve been warned: if you’re not very good at handling rodents in your food, you might want to skip this one. It zooms in quite a bit, you see. Although I did have another really good laugh at the hashtag #ratatouille. Oh well, at least that rat looks very relaxed — unlike the restaurant staff and guests right now.
