Wow: these are the rules Five Guys employees have to follow
I used to genuinely really want to work at a fast-food chain. It seemed wonderful to me, especially the discounts you got on the food. It was like this: I used to be able to eat whatever I wanted without gaining weight. Ideal! So my first job was at New York Pizza, and I’ve never eaten so much pizza per week. 10/10 would recommend.
But things were simply very cozy at our place too (with plenty of pizza for the staff). It’s quite different at burger joint Five Guys. An employee told the website BoredPanda about the rules their managers required them to follow. And… It’s quite something.
The rules Five Guys employees were expected to follow
1. No more smoking breaks, no more short breaks: every employee gets a 30-minute unpaid break or nothing at all.
2. When you ask your manager for that 30-minute break and they say ‘no’, don’t ask again or you’ll receive a warning or be fired.
3. If you look around, up, to the left, right or down, you’ll find something that’s dirty. Clean it.
4. If you go to the toilet, or need to get something from the back, you have to communicate this to your manager. If you don’t, you may clock out when you return and not come back.
5. The end time on your schedule is not the time you’re finished, but the time when you ask your manager, ‘is there anything else I can do for you?’
6. If you want to swap a shift and have found a replacement, a manager can reject it, and there’s nothing you can do about it.
7. You have to take pride in your work, and when you’ve finished your shift, you should think, ‘I’ve just done something good.’ If you don’t think that, you can leave and don’t have to come back.
Hereby my resignation
Seriously, how long would you put up with this? I doubt I would have even made it through my trial day.
