Wow, what a discovery: NU koffie & delicatessen serves the best toasted sandwiches in ages
Instagram phenomenon @snackspert, known in mayonnaise as Eke Bosman, tells you where to get the best snacks, from shoarma rolls to lihanboutjes. This week, he once again ate a perfect toasted sandwich. And where? In the Jordaan in Amsterdam, at NU koffie & delicatessen.
NU’s toasted sandwiches
I prefer a perfect toasted sandwich to a soggy one, especially if you encountered one of those on Saturday night while out and about and therefore need a toasted sandwich on Sunday afternoon that actually delivers. Well, I have good news for all the Amsterdammers here, because NU koffie & delicatessen in the Jordaan may well have the best toasted sandwiches in ages (look it up, I have given very few toasted sandwiches the maximum number of stars oh god this is already a spoiler oh well, once in a while is fine). Yes, seriously, despite the fairly high price – 2 euros less and there would be queues outside – the toasted sandwich bolo (also available vegetarian) is truly a little gem. The name does not refer to Bos & Lommer, but to the ragù alla bolognese inside the toasted sandwich. Long-cooked minced meat with tomato sauce, as if you were spooning with the person you had a crush on during your first night together. The bread comes from the excellent Ulmus bakery, and is very crisp but also nice and sturdy: no soggy toasted sandwich here. So, what are you going to do for lunch in the near future? Head to the Jordaan. Head to NU koffie & delicatessen. What a little gem. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
