Wow: you can now get Shrimp Nuggets at this McDonald’s
We have another fun, tasty new addition to the category ‘At McDonald’s, but not here.’ A category that is unfortunately getting bigger and bigger—and therefore increasingly frustrating. Because what do we have that’s special at our Dutch McDonald’s? Only the McKroket, but to be completely honest, I don’t find it all that special, and the last time I got exactly three drops of sauce. A definite fail.
No, foreign McDonald’s locations really do things much better. Take the restaurants in Japan, for example: from now on, you can get Shrimp Nuggets there.
Can we have the Puripuri Ebi Purio too?
Funny: in Japan, they don’t use the word ‘nugget’ at all, but call them puripuri instead. This is a Japanese word that describes the texture of something—a unique word in Japan and therefore difficult for us to translate. Ebi means shrimp, and Purio is still a bit of a mystery—but it’s probably a pun on the Filet-O Fish, which apparently is pronounced ‘purio’ in Japanese.
Now that we’ve got that language lesson out of the way, it’s time to address the elephant in the room: why don’t we get these in the Netherlands too?! I’m sure this would immediately become one of the most popular items on the menu. In the meantime, we have to make do with McShaker Fries, which were delivered incorrectly nine times out of ten and have since disappeared from the menu again… Disappointing, McDonald’s.
