You can now vote for your favorite Wine Bar of the Year

For the eighth time, the award for the best Wine Bar of the Year will be presented this year — and you can cast your vote now. Just like in previous years, 150 wine bars have been selected to compete for the title, after which only 25 will remain, and the professional jury will get to work. 15 wine bars will make it to the final round and will be visited unannounced by this professional jury (including FavorFlav’s Sharon) until the end of the year, in order to select one ultimate winner.

But you can have quite an influence on that by voting now via this link. Do it quickly, though, because online voting closes on December 3. In recent years, more than 12,000 consumers per year made their voices heard by voting for their favorite wine bar, so be sure to make your voice heard now too. Extra fun: one voter will be chosen at random to win a wine tasting with South African wines at their favorite wine bar.

The previous Wine Bar of the Year winners

Last year, Paskamer Amsterdam took first prize, entirely deserved if you ask me. Every wine lover in and around Amsterdam has probably heard of this place, where they also host wine tastings and High Wines (which I love). But meine gute, choosing is quite difficult, between those 150 contenders. Many of my favorites in our capital are among them (such as GlouGlou, Barrica and Wijnbar Shiraz – which has also taken the top prize before), but I also have wonderful memories of Wijnbar Petit Bardot in Breda. Yes, it’s like Sophie’s Choice.

I certainly wouldn’t want to be in the jury’s shoes, which, as mentioned, includes our very own Sharon — so I wish her lots of luck with this choice. The Wine Bar of the Year is an initiative by Pitch PR, and is also a great platform if you’re looking for the nicest wine bars throughout the Netherlands. And there are more of them every year, because wine bars are still on the rise — all the more reason for one of them to be put in the spotlight each year.

South African wine in the spotlight

The jury assesses the top 15 wine bars based on atmosphere, wine list and service. And this year, South African wines are in the spotlight. Not only will a South African wine tasting be given away among the voters, the winner of the Wine Bar of the Year election will receive a unique box containing the 6 highest-rated wines from the Platter Guide 2023 – the South African wine guide.
