You’re Better Off Eating a Burger Than a Salad When You’re Sick

Do you sometimes no longer know what to believe because of all the contradictory reports about healthy eating? Neither do we. That’s why, in the editorial office, we choose to believe only the reports that genuinely make us happy. The news that we’re better off eating a burger when we’re sick than just the greens in between is the perfect example.

And no, this isn’t fake news. In fact, it’s scientifically proven! Prof. Dr. Elisabeth De Waele of Vrije Universiteit Brussel is certain: fast food is often better for sick people than something healthy like lettuce with tomatoes.
Huh?!
According to the expert, it has everything to do with the fact that, when you’re sick, it’s important to eat differently from what you’re used to. Viewed in this light, eating unhealthily for a limited period is actually good for you. The reason a burger works well is that it contains three essential nutrients: proteins needed to build fibers, sugars for the essential fuel (very important when you have a fever or have to battle an illness), and fats for energy, fuel and essential fatty acids.
It doesn’t sound truly healthy to eat fast food when you’re sick, but apparently it does work!
