Our Favorite Chicken Recipes

The great thing about chicken is that you can take it in any direction. A chicken thigh is easy enough for weeknights, while for parties and celebrations you can make a whole roast chicken or fried chicken. These are our favorite chicken recipes.

Chicken and Pumpkin Cacciatore
Italian hunters used to eat this to get them through the hunt. Hunt or no hunt, it’s simply a delicious stew with chicken and pumpkin or sweet potato. With this Jamie Oliver recipe, you can make it yourself in the oven.
Nigella’s Crispy Chicken
Chicken breast dries out quickly, but not with this recipe from home-cooking queen Nigella. By flattening it and marinating it in plenty of mustard, she makes the chicken much more tender. The cornflakes make it wonderfully crunchy.

Chicken in a Salt Crust
This whole chicken roasted in a salt crust is sure to impress. Especially when you crack open the crust at the table and all those wonderful aromas are released. You don’t eat the salt crust, by the way.
Fried Chicken with Caramel Fish Sauce
Caramel fish sauce with your chicken may sound strange, but it’s a perfect match. These Vietnamese chicken wings by Miljuschka become wonderfully sticky as a result.

Chicken with Tarragon and Leeks
This whole chicken is the dish Joris Bijdendijk (number 1 in FavorFlav’s top 100) has eaten most often. We can understand why; a whole roast chicken is one of our favorites too.

Chicken Thighs with Orzo
Chicken thighs are a relatively inexpensive cut of chicken, and also the most delicious. That’s because they contain more fat, which means the meat dries out less quickly. In this dish, the crispy skin of the chicken thigh is perfect with the soft, buttery orzo.
Chicken Kebabs with Lime and Saffron
In Iran, you can buy these chicken kebabs on every street corner. That doesn’t surprise us at all, because if you marinate the chicken for long enough, the flavors of the lime and saffron infuse the meat beautifully.
