Recipe: Tasty Lava Chocolate Cakes

Do you know those Tasty cooking videos that pop up in your Facebook feed? They make many a follower’s mouth water with their delicious recipes, and now those recipes have been bundled into a cookbook. From lava brownies to skillet chili hot dogs.

Dark chocolate truffles are the secret behind these individual lava cakes that hit like a bomb. After making this recipe, you’ll have some brownie batter left over. What a terrible problem! We suggest making a few brownies with the remaining batter, freezing them and using them later to spruce up an ice cream sundae. Think of it as your brownie bank balance.
How to make Lava Chocolate Cakes
1. Preheat the oven to 175 °C. Grease two 180 ml ramekins with baking spray.
2. Prepare the brownie mix according to the instructions on the package, using the vegetable oil, eggs and 60 ml water. Measure out 360 ml brownie batter; save the rest for another time.
3. Pour 120 ml brownie batter into each ramekin and press 2 chocolate truffles next to each other into the center of each one. Pour 60 ml of the remaining brownie batter over the truffles in each ramekin and smooth the top with the rounded side of a spoon.
4. Bake the brownie cakes for 25 minutes, until the batter is firm and the top feels dry. Place the ramekins on a wire rack and let the cakes cool slightly for 5 minutes.
5. Run a knife around the edge of the ramekins and turn the brownies out onto separate plates.
6. Place fresh fruit on the brownies and serve warm with vanilla ice cream, drizzled with chocolate sauce.
