Dining out with your dog? You can at these restaurants!

Hond restaurant (1)

There’s a reason dogs are called loyal four-legged friends. They’d rather follow you everywhere you go, including when you’re dining out. Although sometimes that isn’t appreciated. Fortunately, these Amsterdam restaurants welcome your dog with open arms.

Café Restaurant Amsterdam

This one is firmly in first place as far as we’re concerned. If you call ahead and mention that you’re bringing your dog, they don’t just tolerate it—they also take excellent care of your pet. Your dog gets a bowl of water and the occasional cuddle while you enjoy your plateau fruits de mer.

Loetje

This option is great for dog owners throughout the country. At every location of steakhouse Loetje, you’re welcome to bring your dog along. We won’t tell anyone if you secretly give your dog a piece of chicken liver (one of my favorite side dishes at Loetje). As long as you finish that divine steak all by yourself.

Mr. & Mrs. Watson

Do you love animals so much that you don’t want to eat them at all? Then Mr. & Mrs. Watson is the place for you. Everything on the menu is one hundred percent plant-based, and your pet is more than welcome too. Incidentally, you can’t leave without ordering the vegan cheese board.

Everything by Ron Blaauw

Apparently, our Ron is a true animal lover, because you can bring your dog into all of his restaurants. In the mood for Indonesian, French or Oriental food? Ron’s got the food for every mood. Take a seat at one of his gastrobars, together with your furry friend, of course.

Pllek

After a long walk, you can settle down at Pllek together with your four-legged friend. Pllek is right on the water, overlooking the IJ at the NDSM wharf. This green vegetable restaurant serves the tastiest dishes, with vegetables naturally taking center stage. And honestly, you won’t miss meat for a second!

Baltazar’s Keuken

A small family restaurant where the dog, being part of the family, is more than welcome too. Father and son prefer cooking dishes with seasonal ingredients and a French touch. Balthazar’s Keuken is a small place where you’ll be perfectly comfortable if you own a dachshund. Do you have a Great Dane? Then it might be wise to arrange a dog sitter.

Drovers Dog

With no fewer than three locations, Drovers Dog is a popular spot in Amsterdam—and dogs are welcome inside! Here you can eat a real Aussie burger or rib-eye, and on Sundays the ultimate Sunday roast. You’ll find Drovers Dog on Wibautstraat, Heemstedestraat and Eerste Atjehstraat.
