An Ode to Frozen Pizza

With an expensive product or complicated preparation method, you can quickly impress everyone, but sometimes it’s a simple, humble product that you’re actually craving the most. Right? That’s why today we’re paying tribute to the product that’s always there for you: frozen pizza.

Let’s start with the price: for just a few euros, you have a complete meal! If you want to splash out, you can go for the Big American at €3.35, but even an Excellent stone-oven pizza costs less than three euros. You can get an old favorite, Dr. Oetker Ristorante with salami, for €2.59, and the cheapest cheese-and-tomato pizza from AH’s own brand costs a mere €0.65. I’m sorry, but you can’t even buy a broccoli for that!
Hangover food
You can also just slide that cheap meal into the oven, and it’s ready after ten minutes. As soon as the oven timer goes off, you’re sprawled out on the sofa in your sweatpants, ready to shovel this divine dinner into your mouth. Or breakfast, because let’s be honest: frozen pizza tastes best when you’re hungover. Okay, or when you come home drunk.
A product in its own right
And yes, a real pizza fresh from a wood-fired oven is of course also delicious, but I don’t even see it as the same product. Just like McDonald’s hamburgers aren’t real hamburgers, but they are fucking delicious. Everyone should always have a pizza in the freezer. Because yes, it’s excellent hangover food, but that pizza can also save your evening when your cooking has gone wrong or you simply really don’t feel like cooking.
Burning your mouth
Frozen pizza is always there when you need it, and I’m willing to put up with the fact that I always burn my mouth on the first bite.
