Does food affect the taste of semen?
‘Yes, food and drink can influence the taste of semen and other bodily fluids. For example, asparagus and coffee can change the smell of urine, spicy food can intensify body odor, and certain spicy or bitter products can also change the smell and taste of semen.

Which foods are recommended?
‘Mild, sweet and fruity flavors are generally positive for the taste of semen. Mango, pineapple and kiwis, for example. In addition, drinking enough water is good for ensuring that waste products present in the body are flushed out and therefore have less influence on smell and taste. In general, a healthy lifestyle with enough water, vegetables, fruit and exercise has a positive influence on semen.’

Which foods are not recommended?
‘Food that is very spicy, strongly seasoned, bitter or fatty is not good for the smell and taste of semen. Onions, garlic, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, red meat and strongly seasoned food—think paella or certain Indian, Moroccan or Thai dishes—are not recommended in that regard. In addition, coffee and alcohol are also not positive for the smell and taste. These products can make the taste of semen somewhat bitter or a little stale.’

Does all this also apply to women?
‘Certain foods can affect various bodily fluids. Sweat, urine, semen and saliva can be influenced by them. The smell and taste of the vagina can also be influenced by what is eaten and drunk. The same advice applies here as for men: mild, sweet, fruity flavors and drinking enough water are good, while strongly seasoned dishes and coffee do not improve the smell and taste.’
