How to soften butter quickly

We all know the feeling: all the ingredients for your cake are good to go. Then you read in the recipe that the butter needs to be soft, while it’s still sitting in the fridge like a rock-hard block. With this tip, that problem is solved in no time.

All you have to do is grate the butter. This gives you such thin strands of butter that they become soft almost immediately when you touch them with your hands or mixer. That way, you’ll never have to wait half an hour for your butter to be ready again.
Alternative
Don’t have a grater? Then it’s definitely time to get a Microplane, read here why. But before you do, you can also cut the butter into small cubes. They soften faster than one large piece.
Don’t melt it
