Never let water boil over again

Water in the pan, pan on the stove, heat high, get distracted and… The hissing sound on your stovetop says it all: water has boiled over. From today onwards, this will no longer happen to you thanks to this life hack. All you need is a wooden spoon or spatula.

How so?
The trick: simply place the spoon or spatula across the middle of your pan. Easy does it. Bubbles form in boiling water. When the bubbles rise high enough, they hit the wooden spoon, burst and sink back into the pan. So the bubbles break against the spoon and, instead of the pan overflowing, the foam in the middle of the pan disappears back into the water. This only works as long as the spoon isn’t too hot, because otherwise it loses its ‘soothing’ effect.
We thought it was nonsense, but after extensive testing it turns out: this hack really works! You’re welcome.
