Types at the BBQ

Let’s set the scene: beautiful weather, friends, drinks and a barbecue. These are the ingredients for an evening full of fun. A great night, in other words. Even better: at occasions like these, you always see the same types making an appearance. Which one are you?

1. The alpha
He always takes the lead when the barbecue is lit. After all, he knows better than anyone how to do it. In fact, the alpha has invented his own method for it. The fact that this method doesn’t always work doesn’t bother him. Then it’s simply the barbecue’s fault.
2. The fit boy/girl
Fit boys and fit girls live on chicken with vegetables. Fortunately, those are perfectly good barbecue products. The only things they avoid are the sauces and that delicious white baguette.
3. The bread eater
Speaking of baguette… some people attack it immediately and are no longer hungry by the time the meat is ready. It was never the intention beforehand, but suddenly all the bread is gone, along with the herb butter. Oops.
4. The overprotective barbecuer
This type sees danger everywhere. Put a piece of chicken on the plate of the concerned barbecuer, and it will be meticulously dissected to check whether it is cooked through. The potato salad (which has by now been sitting in the blazing sun for an hour) is also subjected to an inspection. Even Rob Geus could learn a thing or two from this.
5. The impatient one
Opposite the overprotective barbecuer is the impatient type. These people don’t come for the food, but only for the company, because the impatient one isn’t really a barbecue fan. It always takes far too long before everything is ready. By then, the baguette is gone and the satay sauce is cold. Classic lines include: ‘It doesn’t have to be that well done for me’ and ‘Is the barbecue hot yet?’
6. The gastronome
You’re lucky to have this bon vivant around. Both at dinner at home and at a barbecue. The gastronome is the one who adds flavor to all your parties and gatherings. Fortunately, this guest never arrives empty-handed, so everyone can enjoy homemade sauces, dips and meat that has been marinating for 24 hours.
