During barbecue season, it’s all about the tastiest marinades and finest cuts of meat, but as far as we’re concerned, the side dishes are just as important.

Whether you’re bringing a salad or want to shine with the tastiest vegetable dish from the grill. With these side dishes, you’re sure to be set.

Still looking for a drink to go with the barbecue? Go for a negroni.

Potato salad

No, not the kind from a supermarket bucket. Rather, one with a fresh vinaigrette and fresh herbs. Try this recipe with mustard vinaigrette and perfectly cooked eggs.

Artichoke

You’ll make a lot of people happy with this grilled artichoke with lemon aioli. You can cook the artichoke in advance and just finish it off on the grill during the festivities. You can also prepare the sauce at home, so you’ll barely have anything left to do at the location.

Coleslaw

This fresh salad is a barbecue essential. It’s creamy thanks to the mayonnaise, but also refreshing because of the horseradish, buttermilk and mustard. A guaranteed hit.

Corn

Corn on the cob from the barbecue is always a treat. We’re more than happy with a generous layer of butter and sea salt, but also try this chili-lime butter.

Haricots verts

Cook them for a few minutes until tender-crisp and rinse them under cold water until they have cooled completely. Then mix with a little crème fraîche, lemon zest, a finely chopped shallot, pepper and salt. A wonderfully fresh salad that goes with everything.

Cheese

Above all, don’t forget the cheese course. This one melts completely when you place it on the barbecue; the nuts, honey and grapes finish it off perfectly.

Boozy fruit salad

Because fruit salad is just fruit salad, after all. Add a little rum or gin and you have a festive finale. For example, make this recipe from Martha Stewart.
