How often did you pester your parents at the supermarket for sprinkles with white chocolate sprinkles in the pack too? No, the regular sprinkles are good enough. It was also a special occasion when there was a Vienetta on the table. An ice cream cake with those crackly layers: party time! Which food did you think was super fancy when you were little?

Of course, every now and then something appeared on the table that would instantly make you lose your appetite. Spaghetti with sauce containing ‘bits’, for example, or marmalade – call the Child Helpline! More than often, there was also plenty that made my mouth water as a child. Or are you going to tell me that you never asked whether you could also eat those mini jars of jam and little packets of holiday chocolate sprinkles at home? My parents’ answer was always: no.

And now that I have my own bank card, it has never occurred to me to fill my breakfast table with mini chocolate sprinkles and Honeypuffs. Actually, that’s a pretty good idea; I’m going to look for them at the supermarket later.
