You might not expect it, but we don’t only go to IKEA for the Swedish meatballs, soft-serve ice cream and hot dogs. We also visit the blue-and-yellow furniture giant because we actually need something for our homes. Where are you most likely to find us? Among the kitchen accessories, of course! These are 10 fantastic kitchen gadgets we pick up at IKEA.

FULLSPÄCKAD serving tray
This two-tiered portable bamboo serving tray is incredibly handy. You have more space to display your food, you can easily move it using the handle, and it simply looks nice. Can you picture it already, this tray piled high with tapas, shining on your summery barbecue table? It’s also ideal for breakfast in bed. No more near-accidents on the stairs because you can’t see where you’re walking around your enormous tray.

SNURRAD turntable
A well-organised fridge: we love it. It makes you feel like you have your life fairly well under control, doesn’t it? The SNURRAD turntable helps with that. Brilliant!

Not everyone has the luxury of a large kitchen. I know what I’m talking about: the kitchen in my previous flat was about 5 square metres. All clever ways to store things are welcome in that situation. IKEA’s KUNGSFORS rail is one example. Several hooks and a container hang from the rail, where you can hang or store all kinds of kitchen utensils. That leaves you with quite a bit more space on your worktop and in your drawers. The best part: it’s easy to install. What’s more, it’s made of stainless steel, which is a truly excellent material—especially in the kitchen.

AVSTEG storage system
IKEA is the Swedish king of storage systems. That becomes clear once you see the AVSTEG storage system. Every detail has been thought of. Your knives? Put them in the slots at the back of the system. In the kitchen, we love to freestyle. A little extra spice here, another generous splash of sauce there. Freestyling is only not a fantastic idea when you’re baking.
