The very best way to store your food? Vacuum sealing. You pack your food airtight in special bags, keeping it incredibly fresh. For that, you need a vacuum sealer. Another advantage is that, thanks to its compact size, it takes up almost no space in your kitchen cupboard. Even better, because for me the number-two kitchen annoyance is the overstuffed appliance cupboard.

6. Food warmer with tea lights
What do you do when you want to keep the food in your pans warm? Leave it on the stove? Not very safe when it’s out of sight. Besides, you just want to stay comfortably seated at the table, right? This food warmer is the answer. At the bottom are 2 tea-light holders for your candles. The heat from the tea lights keeps your food warm. Handy, affordable and, honestly, it looks cozy too.

Okay, I’ll admit right away that this is a bit of a luxury purchase. After all, you can also buy a “regular” gourmet set. Or a large hotplate. But for anyone who can’t stand the fiddling around involved in cooking alongside everyone else, and who finds it disgusting to think that their fried mushrooms might touch their neighbor’s shrimp: this Blokker Gourmet Party Set is the answer.
