Thirsty tales

10x the grossest drink requests made to bar staff

It’s always fun when hospitality workers spill the beans. About what they snack on themselves after closing time. Or what they can’t stand about guests. Or, as now, when they tell stories about the disgusting drink requests they occasionally get from their guests. These are the ten most striking ones. Burp!

Do you really want this in one glass?

“A red wine and cola, please.” Fine, I thought, and I poured the drinks. Turns out I wasn’t doing it quite right: “No, not separately, together please, in a large glass.” Excuse me?!

Kahlua Ice-Tea

Kahlua and cola are ordered fairly often, and it’s a pretty tasty combination. But Kahlua and iced tea? I’ll pass.

Frisky

Fristi + whisky = Frisky. Yes, really, and that’s how it was ordered. I normally like tasting the weird things people order, but as a Fristi hater, I’ll pass on this one. Maybe it’s something for you?

Double Campari milk

Another one in the ‘don’t taste this’ category. The person in question didn’t seem to really enjoy it either. I don’t know whether he actually understood what he had ordered, despite the fact that I asked him twice whether he was sure.

Fat bitch

For a moment I thought I was being insulted, but the girl at the bar ordered a fat bitch. The drink, I learned, consists of a double vodka topped up ‘with a soft drink containing as much sugar as possible.’ Love it.

Tequila Radler

My eyebrows shot up when this combination was ordered. I couldn’t imagine it being tasty. But honestly, tequila and Radler with ice and a slice of lemon is delicious! And it has a slightly Desperados-like flavor. I now sometimes even recommend the mixer to guests.

Jäger juice

Wildly popular, as it’s ordered quite often: Jägermeister with apple juice.

Sour coffee

“A cappuccino, please.”
“I’ll make that. Would you like it with regular milk or oat milk?”
“No, with buttermilk, please.”
Whatever rocks your boat…

Pour that Salmari, please

A shot of Salmari (do you know this licorice liqueur?) wasn’t enough for this guest. He drank his Salmari in a large glass with ice. The first time I’d ever seen anyone sip Salmari. Brave, bro.

The angry queen

A beer with Sprite is called a snow white: delicious. White wine and Sprite? Do we call that the angry queen, then? Apparently. This is not a tasty combination, people. Once again, it just goes to show that tastes differ.
