5 dishes you wouldn’t expect you can make in the Airfryer

Over the past year, we’ve experimented quite a bit with the Philips Airfryer. That usually went very well, and occasionally a little less so. What we’ve discovered above all: you can do so much more with the Airfryer than ‘frying’. Such as what? Well, these five dishes, among others.

Nasi goreng

Is ‘eating healthier’ one of your New Year’s resolutions? Great. You’ve come to the right place. Okay, the purist won’t call this nasi, because nasi means rice and this ‘nasi’ is made from cauliflower. And no, cauliflower isn’t rice. But putting that aside, it functions here as a kind of rice and is therefore a great low-carb alternative. You even bake the prawn crackers in this recipe in the Airfryer—in other words: without fat!

Prefer real nasi? That works too. In this video, the Philips Chef explains how.

Sushi

Making sushi yourself is great fun, but how do you get that deliciously crispy crust like they make at the Japanese restaurant? You guessed it: the Airfryer is your best friend. With this recipe, you can make the perfect crispy sushi roll.

Pizza

‘Frying’ fries in the Airfryer is one option, but you can also use your Airfryer as a kind of oven and bake pizza in it. We tested it by baking a prosciutto pizza in it and sure enough: a beautiful pizza came out. It didn’t stay beautiful for long: within 5 minutes, it was gone. That’s what you get with an always-hungry editorial team. Got the basics down? Then also try this pizza calzone!

Vegetable chips

This may sound obvious. After all, chips are fried, and with the Airfryer you ‘fry’ without fat. True, but in this case the chips are dried in the Airfryer. To do that, you need the so-called ‘snack cover lid’. Here’s exactly how to do it. Add some garlic yoghurt sauce and enjoy.

Lemon mug cakes

Well, if you can bake pizza in the Airfryer, then of course you can bake cakes and pies in it too. This apple pie, for example, but definitely also try these lemon mug cakes. They’re not only absolutely delicious but also somewhat healthy thanks to the use of almond flour—and wonderfully easy: simply put the batter in a mug (one that’s heat-resistant!) and pop it in the Airfryer.
