5 reasons why you should watch Donnie’s new cooking show

Rapper Donnie is doing great. After Donnie’s Kookboek, De Fenomeen has also had his own online cooking series since recently. In Donnie aan de Kook, the Amsterdam rapper travels throughout the country to transform the favorite dishes of six Dutch celebrities into vegan versions. We’re giving you five reasons why you don’t want to miss this phenomenal six-part food series.

1. Cooking Dutch celebrities are rare
Famous Dutch people cooking on camera: that’s rare. That’s why it’s extra fun to see Frans Bauer stirring a saucepan for the first time, among other things, and to see famous YouTube stars taking matters into their own hands with a knife. And everyone comes out of it pretty well, or, well, except Fransie perhaps…
2. Donnie is an experienced cook
Donnie knows what he’s doing. So no, don’t think ‘another celebrity who’s going to cook’ because our Don has tons of experience. Before his years as a rapper, he worked in many a restaurant. Finely chopping a mushroom with a dangerous Japanese cleaver? Donnie doesn’t hesitate.
3. No rehearsed scenes
As a rapper, Donnie loves to freestyle, and he doesn’t ask rehearsed questions in his cooking show either. He does his thing and the guests do theirs. And that produces honest and, above all, hilarious footage.

4. It’s educational
Admit it: you didn’t know how to make egg-free foo yong hai or vegan smoked salmon. That’s another reason why Donnie aan de Kook is educational. Donnie previously told us in an interview that “meat is really extremely harmful to the environment and there are much better alternatives”, and those alternatives are what De Fenomeen teaches you.
5. You can watch it wherever and whenever you want
You don’t need a Videoland or NPOplus account to watch Donnie aan de Kook, because you can simply watch the episode on YouTube or NPO3.nl wherever and whenever you want.
A new episode appears every Monday at 3:00 p.m. (with the first one having aired last Monday), which you can watch here.
