Utrecht – Behind Bars
Sink into the Chesterfield sofa or take a seat at the bar. To the sounds of Rick Astley and more legendary contemporaries, you’ll drink the best cocktails in Utrecht and the surrounding area in this small, almost hidden cocktail bar. Behind the bar is Marcel van der Ben, who competes in national and international competitions and invariably finishes in the top five. Another nice touch: besides cocktails, there’s a separate menu featuring more than 100 types of (Japanese) whisky.

Amsterdam – Door-74
The star of this cocktail bar was Tess Posthumus, the world’s best female bartender. And although she has just left to open her own bar in December, Door-74 is still one of Amsterdam’s best cocktail bars for now. The address of this speakeasy is no longer a secret, but you have to make a reservation by phone to get in. If there’s space, the door will open and you can take a seat in Amsterdam’s most famous cocktail bar.

Rotterdam – Stirr
You can easily walk past the door behind which, according to Esquire, the best cocktail bar in our country is located: Stirr. The rugged urban look and dark beats briefly make you forget that you’re in the Netherlands. There’s no menu here; you say what you like and then have a clear view of how artistically the bartender puts your cocktail together.

Nijmegen – Café Demain
This cocktail bar is a serious contender in the national top. The interior is reminiscent of a luxury lobby. Every last weekend of the month, your drinks evening here comes with live music (think groove, funk and jazz). And that one line on the website especially convinces us to stop by: ’Our glasses feel empty without you’.

The Hague – Millers Kitchen & Club
Is it a restaurant with a cocktail menu or a cocktail bar with a kitchen? We’ll leave that open for now, because the cocktails pair excellently with the Asian dishes, but during a drinks evening the snacks are very tempting to order. But what does it matter? All 60 cocktails are equally delicious and surprising.

Eindhoven – Vane
Impressive. That’s the first thing that comes to mind when we walk into the sky bar on the top floor of the NH Collection Hotel. The view is incredible and the cocktails (created by Tess Posthumus) are at least as wonderful. The chic surroundings make a visit to Vane a truly memorable experience.
