6x unusual foods you used to love

Last week I wrote about unusual food combinations we all used to enjoy, and it showed: lots of you responded. Many of you recognized them, but you also shared plenty of new combinations. Some I had never heard of before.

These are the most striking food combinations that you used to love.
6x unusual food combinations from the past
1. ‘Fried sauerkraut on bread for lunch—delicious.’
To be honest, this sounds genuinely delicious to me—I’m definitely going to try it.
2. ‘Fried onions with tomatoes on white bread, delicious. Still is.’
OK, OK, it takes some getting used to, but I get it.
3. ‘Smac mixed into macaroni.’
Yes, a classic—and do you know these 5 combinations with Smac?
4. ‘Bread with bebogeen. A caramel-like spread.’
I’m still learning things from you; I had never heard of bebogeen—but you can simply buy it at the supermarket.
5. ‘Egg croquettes, a wartime recipe from my mother. Finely chop boiled eggs, add breadcrumbs or crushed rusks, salt, nutmeg and pepper. Raw egg to bind it, and a finely chopped raw onion. Mix, shape into flat balls and fry.’
This sounds GOD-TIER and I need to make it as soon as possible!
6. ‘Leftover cold macaroni on white bread with curry ketchup.’
Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I never really understand the combination of carbs + carbs. Why put pasta on bread? In the same category: I would never put rice in a burrito either. Are there more people who feel this way?
