7 things that drive you absolutely crazy when you’re grocery shopping

Irritant-Favorflav

It might be my mood, but some things in the supermarket really rub me the wrong way. You can get completely freaking crazy over a loaf of bread with gigantic holes in it when you’re in the mood to make a delicious toasted sandwich, right? And then, if you also have to open a new bottle of ketchup and that darn foil won’t come off, grrr…

Donation jar

One of those little bowls on the counter at the supermarket or by the cash register at a fast-food restaurant: give some change to charity. While you’re standing there paying at a publicly traded company with gigantic revenue. Hello, why don’t you donate something to charity? I’m already happy if I make it to the end of the month on this budget.

Get a knife, a hatchet, a chainsaw

Who came up with those teeny-tiny tabs on packaging? I mean that little flap you have to pinch between your fingernails when you want to open a tube of toothpaste, or when you want to open a bottle of ketchup. That’s completely hopeless, isn’t it?

I can see your face!

When you want to make a reservation at a restaurant, you find their contact details online on your phone and then tap to call them. But no, suddenly you’re looking into your own eyes, because the settings are configured so that you start FaceTiming the restaurant. Noooooo!

Superglue

Manufacturers who attach stickers to their products that you couldn’t burn off with a flamethrower… awful. I hope they step on a tiny Lego brick every morning for the rest of their lives.

More hole than bread

Lovely, such airy bread. But once you’re three slices past the heel and your loaf seems to contain more hole than bread, it’s a lot less fun. Try making a toasted sandwich with that—I dare you!

More hole than bread, part II

OK, this croissant takes the cake: it’s basically air inside a crispy crust.

Paper straws

We don’t need to explain anything else about those, do we? Hands up: who has their own bamboo straw in the car or in their bag? Yes, I keep forgetting mine too, so then I’m also angry at myself while sucking on such a disgusting papier-mâché stick.
