We do everything we can to make food delicious. We add salt and pepper and use different techniques to make our recipes taste better and better. That’s what makes our food exciting: different spices and a variety of textures. But what role does your body play in this?

Focus on yourself

What if, instead of focusing on the food, we shifted our attention more towards ourselves? Marije Vogelzang wonders what would happen if we changed our mindset. No longer consuming food endlessly without asking where it comes from, but focusing more on what food means. Placing greater value on all the sensations it brings with it. “What if we used our senses not only to taste and understand food, but also to see the beauty and abundance of food?” says Marije.

All these questions are central to her food massages, during which you receive not only a relaxing massage but also the occasional bite to eat. Marije wants to stimulate the body and the bond of trust between people, making us more aware of what we eat. “I think appreciating food could solve many of the food-related problems in the world.”

Her food massage salons will appear this year at, among other places, Dutch Design week which takes place in Eindhoven in October. Relaxed muscles and a full belly—what more could you want?
