The Chinese restaurant Mei Wah in Eindhoven was named Asian restaurant of the year by Gault&Millau today. Owner Taks Yuen received the Asian Restaurant of 2019 award at the Kromhouthal in Amsterdam. In addition, the Gault&Millau 2019 guide rates restaurants on a scale of up to twenty points; Mei Wah received 13.5. Here is an excerpt from the jury report:
“Restaurants that honor and uphold the complex Chinese cuisine are rare. At first glance, this simple restaurant is not your average Chinese restaurant on the corner. Taks Yuen is the driving force and passionate defender of Chinese cuisine. Everything from the sea is a specialty here, as is often the case in Hong Kong. The cuisine at Mei Wah is precise, diverse and rich. Chinese dishes of the highest level.”
