Afraid of a spider? Order a chicken sandwich

Imagine this: you’re sitting peacefully on the sofa, home alone, watching a bit of television. Relaxed, in other words. And then, suddenly, you see something moving out of the corner of your eye. Something with eight legs, something big, something hairy, something descending from your ceiling on a thread. What do you do then?

Demi Sweeney from England is terrified of spiders. She always has been, and that’s not going to change. So when she found such a creepy crawler in her house, she panicked. What can you do? Removing it herself with a glass or the vacuum cleaner was already too much for her. Her housemates weren’t home, and her family lived too far away. She came up with a creative solution: she called KFC to have a burger delivered. That way, she could immediately ask the delivery driver if he would catch the spider.
No guarantee
She placed her order over the phone, and the telephone operator was very honest: you can ask the delivery driver to put the spider outside, but I can’t promise that he’ll do it. The delivery driver might even be more afraid of spiders than you are.
One menu too many
Delivery driver Joe arrived with two chicken meals – Demi had ordered one menu too many in her panic – and at the door she told him what was going on. The cool-headed delivery driver brushed the spider off the ceiling, caught it and flushed it down the toilet. Demi was so grateful that she posted an extensive thank-you message on Twitter. After she had eaten her double meal, that is.
