Aha! So that’s what the cap on your pepper and salt grinder is for!

I’d put this revelation in the ‘mind blown’ category, because did YOU know what the cap on a pepper and salt grinder is actually meant for? I had no idea what I was seeing…

Extra trick
If you thought you used everything in the way it was intended, you’re mistaken. And so were we. Recently, we discovered what the sombrero on the tequila bottle, the hole in a spaghetti spoon and cutting board are actually REALLY for. And now even pepper and salt grinders have an extra trick that has left us amazed.
Coarse versus fine
Thanks to an observant Twitter user, we now know (after yoooears) that the pepper and salt grinder has two different grinding settings. Because get this: by lifting the grinder’s cap, you create a coarser grind; by pushing the cap down, the grinder produces a finer grind. Naturally, we had to test this, and the result is astonishing: the result with the cap up is on the left, and with the cap down on the right.
